An essential aspect of workplace safety is prevention of exposure to harmful gases such as ammonia. Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia in the air can cause immediate burning of the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory tract and can result in blindness, lung damage or death.
One of the best ways to detect ammonia is through an ammonia sensor, and according to Fei Shen, CEO of SemeaTech, there are several different sensors available based on different factors.
“One of the biggest obstacles in ammonia detection has been the inability to use sensors for long durations due to their limited capacities like alkaline batteries,” he explained, adding that SemeaTech has an innovative new solution.
“As a worldwide leader in sensing technologies focusing on hazardous material detection in work safety and environmental protection, we pride ourselves on providing solutions,” he said. “Our new NH3 Long Life Ammonia Sensor works optimally regardless of how much it has been exposed to ammonia and has one of the longest lifetimes of any NH3 sensor at approximately a five-year life span.”
Brent Yaschuk, Principal Sales Director at Scout Innovations LLC in Texas is excited to help with sales and distribution of this impactful product.
“This is a great solution for a lot of manufacturers,” he said. The sensor is more optimal for environments where ammonia could be present 24/7 such as refrigeration facilities, fertilizer manufacturing or livestock farms.
